Updated: Mar 16

In today's fast-paced world, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can feel overwhelming. With so much information available, it can be hard to know where to start. This is where Oklahoma Dietitian Care comes in. We offer tailored nutrition packages and functional testing that not only focus on physical health but also align with spiritual well-being.

Understanding Nutrition Packages

Nutrition packages are designed to provide personalized dietary guidance. These packages often include meal plans, nutritional counseling, and ongoing support.

What to Expect in a Nutrition Package

When you sign up for a nutrition package, you can expect several key components:

  • Initial Assessment: This is where the dietitian evaluates your current health status, dietary habits, and lifestyle.

  • Personalized Meal Plans: Based on the assessment, the dietitian will create a meal plan tailored to your needs. This plan will consider your health goals, preferences, and any dietary restrictions.

  • Ongoing Support: Regular check-ins are crucial. These sessions help you stay on track and make necessary adjustments to your meal plan.

  • Educational Resources: Many packages include educational materials that teach you about nutrition, meal prep, and healthy eating habits.

The Role of Functional Testing

Functional testing is another essential service offered by Oklahoma Dietitian Care. Testing can help us get to the root cause and helps provides valuable insights into your health that can inform your nutrition plan.

Types of Functional Tests

There are various lab tests that dietitians may recommend, including:

  • HTMA: (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) is a non-invasive test that measures the levels of minerals, trace elements, and toxic metals in your hair to provide an overview of your body's mineral status. It works by analyzing a sample of hair, which holds a permanent record of mineral and metal accumulation over time (about 3 months), unlike a blood test that provides only a snapshot (and many minerals are quickly absorbed and poorly measured in the blood). HTMA results can offer insights into issues like stress, thyroid function, heavy metal exposure, and hormonal balance, helping to identify potential deficiencies or excesses and guide personalized health recommendations.

We use Trace Element for our HTMA testing, which is one of the most reputable HTMA labs in the USA.

  • DUTCH: The Dutch Hormone Test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) is a dried urine test that measures various hormones and their metabolites. It is designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of hormone balance and metabolism. Visit https://www.ok-dc.com/dutch for more information on the DUTCH tests that we provide.

  • Lab Testing: we can order a variety of lab tests when needed. (Note: if you have insurance, we try to request labs be ordered by your doctor so that they can possibly be covered by insurance. Labs ordered by a dietitian will not be covered by insurance).

Building a Healthy Lifestyle

The goal of integrating faith and nutrition is to build a healthy lifestyle that honors both your body and the Lord.

  • Mindful Eating: Practicing mindfulness during meals can help you appreciate the food you eat and its impact on your body.

  • Gratitude: Cultivating a sense of gratitude for the nourishment you receive can enhance your relationship with food.
